I've been sick the last couple of weeks. Like real sick. Christmas day I got the worst of it towards the evening. It was kind of disappointing that we couldn't stay longer for games at Janay's house. (Let's be honest, it was the cheese ball I was the most sad to leave behind) But we were home and in bed before 10 which was just fine with me.
I'm still suffering with it. The constant coughing at night is sure to be the death of me. I literally can't take a breath without having that annoying tickle and then coughing up a lung. I'm running on barely no sleep. On Monday morning I woke Ed up and told him I couldn't go another night like that. I went to see a doctor and she decided to give me Tylenol 3. Weird right? She said the codeine in it would cut that tickle right out. MY EYE. I took two of them before I went to bed and I was coughing like nobodies business. By the time Ed got home from basketball I was in tears. I was coughing so hard I was making myself throw up. I ended up taking the liquid cherry NyQuil. EW. Most disgusting thing I have ever taken. It took me 5 minutes just to pump myself up enough to down the 2 tablespoons. Yuck. Tonight we went and picked up the PILL kind.. good thinking. We'll see how that goes. I am praying that it gives me some kind of relief. I need a good nights sleep, mostly so I can get back on track with my house duties. I've let things slip the last couple of days and my house is starting to show it.
Christmas was fantastic this year. Very low key. We relaxed, took in a lot of time with family and made some wonderful memories. I'm not really looking forward to when Ed has to go back to school. It's been really nice having him around everyday. He makes me laugh. I've mentioned that before haven't I? Well he really does. Whether he's doing it on purpose or not, he's always good for a laugh.
Like tonight for example, we had some errands to run and pulled into a parking stall at wal-mart. Well, if you know my husband, you know he loves dogs. Just loves them. Anytime he sees one he has to point it out and comment on how cute it is. So there we are, just about to get out of the car and I hear Ed say
"Awww, look at that cute puppy in there!" He starts tapping on the window trying to get the dogs attention in the car next to us.
At this point I look up, more out of habit than an interest in yet another cute dog he's spotted, and right away notice somethings a little off. You can only see the dog's head and a bit of the neck so it looks like it's sitting in the passenger seat. Except, it's not blinking. Or moving. I just about died laughing. Here was my cute husband desperately trying to get the attention of a very fake and very stuffed 'cute puppy'. Seriously, just about died. Laughing that hard threw me into an enormous coughing fit where I'm sure I had veins popping out of my neck. Needless to say, Ed wasn't impressed and I had to run after him apologizing. It could've happened to anyone. Right?? :)
And just because I'm already going to be in trouble for blogging about this one, I shall tell you one more of my favorite Ed laughs before I leave you.
I think it was last winter/springish when Noah got real sick. Since we have yet to find a family doctor in the city and didn't feel like making the trip to Strathmore we sat for a couple of hours in the waiting room of a walk in clinic. After Noah was checked out we walked next door to the Shoppers to get his medication.
Here are a couple of random facts that you need to know about Ed before I continue.
#1. He hates, and I mean HATES getting dirty. It's got to be some kind of OCD thing. When we were dating he always had a tide to go pen in the glove compartment of his car, and I was required to also carry one in my purse, so as to have one on hand in the case of an extreme emergency. I smiled and obliged knowing all along that he was in for a good time when our babies came along.
#2. Every time he sees one of those blood pressure machines around the pharmacy section he has to sit down and test himself. Seriously. The man cannot physically walk past it. It must be done.
Alright, on with the story. Right, so there we are in Shoppers filling the prescription, and lo and behold, what do we come across? Why a blood pressure machine! How convenient. So of course he parks himself with Noah on his lap and starts the test. I was a couple of steps away minding my own business when I hear some gagging noises behind me. I turn around in time to see Ed's horrified expression as our sick baby boy pukes all over... ALL over the front of Ed's shirt and jeans. I tell you, the look on his face was priceless. What made it even funnier was that his arm was still stuck in the blood pressure cuff so there was nothing he could do about it. I had to wipe the mess up which was pretty hard while I was laughing my butt off. To this day he has resisted the urge to sit at one of those machines again. Lesson learned I suppose.
Well I'm off to rock some guitar hero with Ed. Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a relaxing holiday.
